DO NOT install the After Effects 2014.0.1 (13.0.1) update

UPDATE 1: We have removed the After Effects 2014.0.1 (13.0.1) update from our servers. You should no longer be prompted to update.

The After Effects team advises you to not install the After Effects 2014.0.1 (13.0.1) update. We have discovered a bug in the update, have removed it from our servers, and are in the process of building a new update.

The bug is regarding preferences: the update creates and uses a new preferences folder named 13.0.1. This is not normal procedure for small updates like this one; the updated version is expected to use the existing 13.0 preferences folder, which remains present and unaffected by this problem. When you launch After Effects 2014.0.1 (13.0.1) your preferences will have been reset because it did not copy the files from the 13.0 folder. Also, the Sync Settings functionality will not work.

We have traced the cause of the problem and will update this forum thread when a new update is available.

If you have already installed the After Effects 2014.0.1 (13.0.1) update, we recommend that you uninstall After Effects CC 2014 and reinstall, which will restore you to the non-updated version, After Effects CC 2014 (13.0). When you uninstall, do not choose the option to remove preferences, as this will remove the 13.0 preferences folder, not the 13.0.1 preferences folder. You may manually delete the 13.0.1 preferences folder if you wish.

Our apologies about this problem. We are upset that it occurred; it causes problems for you and reflects poorly on us.
